I am not sure what most of your response is about. Most of it heads way
off in the weeds so far I can't even see you any more.

My college students asked me about my educaitonal history. So, I told
them about my strange trek through school land. And then at the end, I
told them I wanted them to be clear about something very important. That
I would never say to them "If I can do it, so can you." That is BS, pure
and simple. But, I also told them what I think is the key point, "If I
am smart enough to do it, so are you." Those are two very different
statements. Your statement is an extension of the first, into "if my
grandparents could do it, so can you." That is just nonsense. Tell
people they are capable, fine, focus on developing their strengths,
fine. But dobn't tell them they can make it because someone else did a
long time ago in a universe far away.

>"Do unto others as I would have others do unto me."

Is all very nice, but so stunningly limited, because it imposes your one
right way of being onto all of humanity. It even violates the basic
principles of some major religions. (Which hold, rather, if you will,
"Do not do unto others as you would not have done unto you." This is a
very different statement.)

> This behavior
is fostered by people who do not help society set a standard and say:
"This
is what is expected of members of a civilized society." PERIOD!

Right wing crap. I agree with each of your examples of lousy behavior as
being examples of lousy behavior. Of course people need to care for one
another, but your version of that borders on "Yessa massa."

>Our America is
very messed up with drugs, modern psychology and the Dr. Spock
philosophy of
child rearing. STOP the bleeding.

Eqaully right wing crap.

Peace

Dan
