Hmm.

Barbara, please sit down. You know the Texas Miracle that your son
George brags about? Well, honey, I think you need to look into what
has really happened in our Texas schools. It's gonna break your heart,
darlin,' but I know you're strong. You can do this. It's up to you to do
what's right and help your boy do the same.

And when you're finished with your homework you need to have a long
heart-to-heart with George. Deep down inside, I know he's a good boy
(can't believe my new eMac hasn't jumped off my desk and choked me
yet for being used to compose this drivel), and he'll listen to his
momma maybe, and maybe he'll make things right.

Yeah, I know, a good Mom will do what it takes to get an education for
her kids, but Barbara, I have a teacher certification that's still costing
money ($12,000 left on my student loan, argh), and I've finished half
the coursework for a master's, but I can't work in one of your boy's
elementary schools. They're abusive, plain and simple, sweetheart.
The homeschooling's worked out okay, but I still have to work part-
time, and sometimes I get worn out, (although I like my work. College
students give me hope). And I have to do something about math soon.
Can't teach what I don't know. I also have to admit that more time to
myself would be nice. Coffee?
