I rarely post to this list, but I read it frequently to learn more about education issues affecting public education. I'm a parent in a stressed out school district known for heated debates. Obnoxious remarks like the ones sent to this litserv are typical and while tiresome can be informative. It's interesting to read the responses to negative voices, especially when non emotional and fact based. These provide ideas on how to react to people like this out "in real life." However, when it turns into off-topic name calling it degenerate the purpose of the discussion.

So, I guess if we are going to vote for permanant banning of a negative person, I'd vote no. But, I'd also say that some stricter guidelines on personal and stupid remark attacks should be stressed. Perhaps there should be temporary banning for those that get out of line and then permanant banning if they don't shape up.
