I knew the opening lines about my laziness were in jest - not to worry - at
least I did when I was linked to that other bum in Madison.
I am mulling this and will have a response to the general issue shortly.

I agree that we should vote about whether to continue to allow one person
to
continually disrupt the discussion here. His role is literally
reactionary:
every single comment over the years has been only in reaction to others,
and
always disparaging, disrespectful, teacher-bashing, and worse.
However I object to blaming this problem we have as an online community
on
our list administrator and attacking him for "sitting on his can" and
doing no
work. That's not the problem. We simply have not taken up this issue up
in
such a way as to even approach a collective decision (however we try to
do
that) on what we want to do about this problem other than grouse about it
or
repeatedly advise each individual subscriber to delete his posts.

I think it is time for a vote, but is that too democratic?
Thanks, Leeila and Clarence.

Dear Listserve Moderator/Administrator:
Hello. You don't know me and I don't know you. But since I've joined ARN
I've read every listserve digest and, therefore, have had the chance to
observe your work daily. Or, rather, your lack of work. I know Fair Test
has little money and you're probably not paid very much to monitor the
listserve, so why work very hard when you're paid so little? I
understand.
You're like that Wasserman guy who's sitting on his can while his
co-workers
work hard at handing out bubble sheets. I know. You're an educator and
you
believe strongly in free speech and informative dialogue so you
wouldn't
dream of blocking someone's posts. But, please! I implore you! If you
see
someone who repetitively and habitually takes members' energy and
talents
away from reforming the American education system and having
constructive
dialogue regarding reformation, please consider doing just that. It's
the
right of every blog/listserve moderator to consider and even act on
banning
someone from their site.
Sincerely,
Jennifer C. Parker
