To Inform and Mobilize....
Dear Monty:
We're coming up on our last few meetings in the Ready Schools Project Town Hall Series and we wanted to make sure that you've had a chance to participate. This past Saturday, Councilmember Alexander and State Board Member Dorothy Douglas joined over 80 community members at the Ward 7 and 8 town hall to discuss school data collected from 102 school principals by almost 200 community members.
During her remarks at the Ward 7 and 8 town hall, Councilmember Alexander proclaimed, "I take the information DC VOICE provides seriously...[w]hen I hear from DC VOICE, it truly is the voice of the residents in D.C."
Today, the Ward 1 and 2 town hall meeting is taking place at All Souls Church, 1500 Harvard St., NW from 9:00 to 10:45am.
And on Tuesday, November 24th, DC VOICE is pleased to announce that the U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will be joining us for the Ward 5 town hall meeting.
Secretary Duncan has been touring the nation on a Listening and Learning tour to meet with members of various communities, and has chosen DC VOICE's Ward 5 town hall as a way to engage D.C. community members' thoughts and concerns regarding public education in the District. Councilmember Harry Thomas, Jr. will also co-host this town hall.

We hope that you will join students, parents, educators, faith based leaders, government officials, and many more in discussing this year's Ready Schools Project data that was collected by community members through interviews with over 100 school principals. It is important for all of us to be included in the conversation of improving quality public education in D.C.
