Are any of you familiar with this group? A doctoral student in Illinois
contacted me because of concerns with trainings related to RtI where they
are being told that DIBELS should be made the universal screening tool
utilized to determine Tier 1 interventions. They are also being told that
DIBELS is a "relative" of CBM, and so should be adopted as the "early
intervention" program because it sets the standard for scientifically based
programs. The group is also recommending Reading Mastery and Open Court as
the preferred reading programs...
Interestingly, ASPIRE received a $1.9 million contract from the Illinois
Department of Ed to train school districts in how to implement RtI...
