<< I finally got around to taking a look at the latest issue of Substance
last night. I just wanted to thank George and all the folks at Substance for the
wonderfully moving tribute to our Steve Orel. It was so comforting to read
his "Janice's lesson" piece. It reminded me of what an incredibly gifted and
compassionate writer our friend was. Thanks again George - you did us all
proud. >>

We just posted the PDF of the September 2007 Substance on our new webstie
(www.substancenews.net) so that everyone here can read what Sue is talking about.

NOTE; THE WEBSITE IS NOW "DOT NET."

We are no longer updating DOT COM but are leaving it there for back issues
(especially the stuff about how we got sued for a million dollars by the local
corporate school reform Chicago Boys Shock Doctors and survived)...

However, we have to ask everyone to subscribe to the print edition of
Substance or we go out of business. Unlike some groups, we get no foundation funding
(for obvious reasons). Although that means we never have to pay the corporate
piper and praise corporate "school reform" in order to sustain ourselves, it
also means we have to have a broad sustainable base of actual paid
subscriptions.

Please subscribe:

$16 (or more) for one year (10 issues) check payable to Substance and mailed
to

Thanks Sue. It was a challenge to put together something appropriate to
Steve's memory. I think we did a reasonable job, although the final tributes are
his legacies into eternity.
