A new survey from produces more evidence that the public wants what NCLB is not providing and in fact is undermining - such as critical thinking and creativity. The survey results, in powerpoint, is at

The link to it came from David Hoff's Ed Week article that is online today, on NCLB battles, starting off with Bush's Rose Garden bs.
I am quoted as supporting the local assessment provision in the Miller draft. Hoff then quotes Amy Wilkins' boilerplate response that it will allow inequity. We should all be aware that reasonable and desirable safeguards against inequity can be built into statewide systems of local assessments.
