Thank you for honoring the students of the World of Opportunity!

Dear ARN folks:

The students of the World of Opportunity program in Birmingham are proudly
adorning multi-colored buttons, thanks to Gloria Pipkin (Florida) , Susan
Ohanian (Vermont), and Juanita Doyon (Washington State).

The button has a map of the world in the background (and North America is not
in the standard center).  Around the button, it says: "World of Opportunity,
Est. Sept. 5, 2000, Birmingham, AL."  In the center, it says: "THE WISDOM OF
THE WOO."  My goodness!

You have really honored our students; their individual and collective wisdom
to work together on this social justice project.  And, you have honored their
determination to continue their education.  This is a very beautiful tribute
to a year of extremely hard work for many of our students and staff.

Also arrived, was a special illustrated version of Aesop's Fables, with a
postmark from Vermont.  The book was not in a plain brown wrapper.  It was
gloriously (no Florida puns intended) wrapped in a flowery paper.

We have received many warm greetings from many of you and we are deeply
appreciative.  Your wishes are posted on our bulletin board where students
and staff sign in and out.

You all live in our hearts and pay no rent.

Warmest greetings to one and all in our common goal to uplift the human
spirit and to fight against the inhumanity of standards and standardized
testing,
