I have seen these same "test items" attributed to Newark, NJ and
other locales. The dates also varied from 1887 to 1912. Jeff Jacoby
even plagiarized for one of his columns (or is it "calumnies"?).

If you don't mind, I'd be curious to know where this one came from
(off-list is fine). I've been tracing the distribution of some of
these pieces.

By the way what ARE the "Principal Parts of a verb"?
