Juanita, Art et. al.,
If I am not mistaken, the correlation in NY state for 4th grade ELA is exactly the same (.79 in 1999 and .81 in 2000). Current scores are just arriving for 2001. Can't wait for the new correlation, however, some internal SED documents are leaning toward 'inventive test score scaling'. More on this when the "embargo" is lifted.

Am I interpreting this right, Art? 79% of F or R lunch kids failed to meet reading standard in 2000. 81% failed to meet reading standard in 2001? Perhaps we need to rethink the before, after, summer school "enrichment" and improve conditions during the regular school day for some of these kids. Like maybe actually decrease the 32 in a class size at my junior high-- if we had the classrooms to do it. Then again, if Boeing turns out the lights in Seattle again, our bedroom commuter community may see a decline in numbers and we'll have the class space but won't be able to afford the teachers.
This all just keeps getting better and better, doesn't it? I don't know if I can take any more A+ meetings. Jose and Patrick "where are the parents" Patrick just make me want to puke all on there own, not to even mention the others. Ah, the layered pompous ass bureaucracy of it all! They just DON'T LISTEN! Of course, with the plans coming out of our education "leaders" what's worth listening to? Is that assistant super in charge of assessment the ringer TB brought in from Canada? I keep losing track of the players. Did you know that Patrick Patrick's brother was the one behind I-601 (I think that's it, the tax reduction bill that cut eduction funding in the first place)? I just heard that recently.
Nobody ever knew how to teach before Dr. Bergeson was elected to train them and demystify the process for them. And now, she's let herself down, poor thing. But we will STAY THE COURSE! She means well as she paves our road straight to educational hell!
