It is not bad enough that here Finn has launched a frontal attack on educators' promoting -- his words -- "tolerance, peace, understanding, empathy, diversity and multi-culturalism," with the unavoidable inference that we should be promoting intolerance, violence, misunderstanding, fear and loathing and cultural homogeneity.

Finn's essay is clumsy to say the least, but I don't take it at all as advocating the noxious behaviors that you say it does. I take it at face value that his purpose is "to ask whether our schools are doing what they should to ensure that today's students become tomorrow's patriots" and to point out the "bravery and goodness " of those who helped the victims and the "value of living in a country that respects individual liberty and the rule of law" (Finn quotes USDOE materials.) That is a fair and important question and those are valid and important points.
