. . . And I guess that because the women of Afganistan haven't asked for
empowerment that they aren't beat down either?

Hello? Is there somebody in there??

When people are beat down they don't ask for things because they are just
trying to survive until the next moment. Teachers are surviving pay-check
to pay-check, students from test-score to test-score, and parents from one
disturbing horrible meeting to the next disturbing horrible meeting.

The question is: How do we empower students, teachers, and parents rather
than beat them down further?
........
I don't think most students, teachers, or parents feel beaten down. Nor do
I find them asking for relief through "empowerment."
