The tests are available for purchase all over the state. many parents in our
district like to see that their kids are "better" than all of the other
kids. We have put a lot of pressure on our district..I imagine that we have
raised some doubt as to the merits of the opts and some parents will want to
purchase their kid's tests to see what all of the fuss is about. I'm
irritated that the answer sheets being sold to parents are not the scored
ones, given the error rates of NCS/Pearson. Speaking of NCS/Pearson, Juanita
Doyan and I visted teh NCS booth at the AERA conference in Seattle this
spring. They were giving away large pencils that looked like hammers. What a
subtle message...hammering our children with high stakes tests!
