But then we will just give them Ritalin so that they will sit still and
pay attention and take tests well...

sorry- I never finished my thoughts but it got sent anyway.
To make a long story very short- Just about ALL early childhood
literature
points to age-appropriate, developmentally-appropriate practices in
pre-k and
kindergarten ie. lots of play oriented, hands-on experiences filled with

nurturing adults, music, art, movement, good literature and the good
old outdoors.
The powers that be are clearly unfamiliar with the field of early
childhood.
When you try to make children do what is inappropriate the results are
obvious- unhappy, defiant, fidgety, "ADD" diagnosed kids who can't sit
still, pay
attention or learn up to par with the STANDARDS.
