Well, Art ... I have arbitrarily selected only "one" of Mr. Brady's "words" to point out how your broad brush doesn't work. To wit ...
He said: "Incidentally, it doesn’t take much reading between the lines to see an intent to replace fifty state K-12 NCLB-generated fiascos with one national NCLB-generated fiasco"
Coincidentally, just minutes before reading what he had to say, I read an op-ed in today's Washington Post (September 21, 2006) by Bill Bennett and Rod Paige, entitled "Why We Need A National School Test". You can read the editorial yourself at

Like I said, every word of what Marion says about NCLB is nonsens and so is most of what he says about the "fundamental nature of knowledge." "Intent" is a slippery word here - unspoken is that a national test is the intent of the vast right-wing conspiracy against public education. Except that Bill Clinton intended to have a national test too - though a voluntary one. You think that reasonable testing of the nation's schoolchildren with a national test is an impossible dream, more power to you. And you think that Bill Bennett and Rod Paige are advance men for privatizing public eduction, again more power to you. Spend all your time looking under your bed for plots by the Business Roundtable, the Fordham Foundation, and Bill Bennett and Rod Paige, why don't you?
