Maybe the kids and parents who showed up at Marty's school expecting to be admitted wanted to be there and thought that what was best was for them was to go there. What's the courage in closing the door to them and how is closing the door to them best for students, teachers, and the community?

No, Art ... what actually happened was that parents showed up at Gage Park High School because this was the only school the City of Chicago kept open for their children to attend. It had already capped enrollment in several other schools (and had done so to purposefully avoid overcrowding and to keep teacher/student ratios low). So, Mr. McGreal did not "close the door" to any students by capping enrollment in his already overcrowded school. He merely referred them to those other Chicago City Schools that are NOT overcrowded and have tons of room for the overflow. Now, it is up to the Board of Education to figure out how to solve the problem (of its own creation)
