About a month ago I posted on my fun adventure trying to transfer my
California Credential to Washington. Well--as a follow up, I took the Praxis II and
scored in the top 15% "for the past few years" earning their "Certificate of
Excellence." They actually sent me the certificate with such grand language
proclaiming that it is people like me who better the teaching profession. I
thought--because I passed a standardized test on Content Knowledge in the
Social Studies? Wow--that's not how I would define a "great teacher." I
certainly think I'm a good, effective teacher, but I have a long way to go and a
lot to learn. I don't think this certificate based on a test score is the
defining measurement. Just thought it was funny, and thought you all would get
a kick out of it.

I don't think too many people are going to celebrate September 11 rolling on
the floor with laughter because you passed a social studies test. But, hey,
this is ARN, who knows?
