9/2/07 Colleagues and friends: Despite what was reported in the newspapers yesterday, there is widespread resistance among Chicago's 25,000 teachers to the new agreement for a five-year union contract. And it's likely, because of the strong-arm tactics of the union leadership, that the rank-and-file will vote down the proposed agreement in a city-wide referendum to be held on Monday September 10.
