I thought it was very good and persuasive to hear the educators and
students. I would love to see a parent or parents included in any future
versions. The proponents often try to discredit the NCLB opposition as
"special interests" opposed to accountability, which parents presumably want
so badly they're willing to accept this crazy law. The absence of parents'
voices (as well as some of the educators in the video talking about what
parents need to understand), may reinforce the idea that educators oppose,
but parents support this kind of accountability. Though I believe it's true
that many parents don't yet realize the negative impact this is having on
their kids' teachers and their kids themselves, there are also growing
numbers of parents like me who are outraged by this law precisely because we
feel it is harming our children's education.

ignorance about what the law actually said, and I spent my time talking
about the law's contents. The video has me talking about AYP, 100%
proficiency, and the choice option, but it seems to me it came out more
talking about the law's impacts which are not necessarily functions of the
law's provisions--e.g., test scores arriving late, high performing students
using the choice option, etc.

Other versions are anticipated which make more use of interviews with
students. Katie and Joe are on the EDDRA list so they'll automatically see
anything that turns up there. I can relay anything from LFA or ARN.
