Dear ASLEers,
The journal of ASLE-UK 'Green Letters' has been largely limited in
circulation to organisation members heretofore, but from October 2008 we are
bringing production of the journal to the Publishing Lab at Bath Spa
University, relaunching it and aiming to increase our readership
significantly (to include more university libraries especially). Four things
make GL somewhat distinctive compared with the illustrious ISLE:
- We prefer ecocriticism of either a global scope or British Isles focus,
rather than work on North American culture.
- We encourage submissions of ecocritical treatments of non-literary media,
including film, TV and digital media.
- We will publish short book reviews on our website where users can comment
on them blog-style, but we also invite longer critical review essays of an
evaluative character to be published in the journal.
- We try to ensure that most editions have a unifying theme.

We already have a splendid line-up for our first edition of the revamped
'Green Letters: Studies in Ecocriticism' (as it will now be called), due out
in January 2009, but we are seeking submissions to complete the second
edition, due out in June 2009. The topic is 'Pre-Modern Ecocriticism', so we
want articles on mediaeval or classical literature, or other aspects of
pre-modern culture or myth. Articles should be 4-6000 words in length, and
should be sent to:

Editorial Assistant, 'Green Letters'
School of English and Creative Studies
Bath Spa University
Newton St Loe

UK

Thanks,
Greg
