Tom--

I read the book years ago and enjoyed it, but haven't assembled any notes or
performed any but casual, informal criticism as I read, mostly for pleasure.

First, I must admit that I ordered the text by accident, confusing the title
with one I had in a review for a different book. Once I started reading, I
found Angier's exploration of the biology of women both challenging and
interesting. As I recall, I was uncomfortable with the way some of her
conclusions seemed to lean toward a form of essentialism, even biological
destiny, regarding women's behavior and their status in modern society. On
the other hand, I learned quite a bit about the biology of women that was
entirely new to me, and I enjoyed some enlightening reality checks with my
wife.
