I've used Pollan's essay "Power Steer" in composition classes, and students find it interesting. It's a good model for teaching argument and research. I've also used Wendell Berry's essay "The Pleasures of Eating" and that seems to go over well, too. I have what I need (including this useful Michael Pollan video, http://www.youtube.com/v/kFpjskn3_Pc&hl ), but I'd like to add at least one essay that challenges the seemingly obvious virtues of slow food. Aside from a few glancing blows in otherwise-supportive essays, I haven't come up with anything.
