How to raise test scores

Accompanying the Sacramento Bee story about how efforts to raise test 
scores have impacted subjects other than reading and math, a table shows 
how much time in social studies, science, art and music, physical education 
and other subjects has been reduced.

Another table at the same site lists the strategies districts have used to 
improve student test scores, with information on how districts rated the 
success of each strategy.

Knowledge which is acquired under compulsion has no hold on the mind.
