The Oakland Education Association is planning a one day strike on Thursday, April 20. People will be picketing local schools in the morning and, at noon, there will be a rally at Peralta Park on 10th street.

People are urged to join both the local pickets, and the rally.

There is a meeting for parents on Tuesday, April 18 at 6 pm at Hunter Hall 1025 Second Avenue.

The strike is staged to protest the attacks on OEA contracts, on libraries, on the curriculum (eradicating counselors, art, music, etc).

We should add that the appointed Oakland school administrator is now shutting down the charter school Susan Harman coordinates.

If there is an effort to set up some kind of freedom schooling for kids on the day of the strike, I am unaware of it, which is unfortunate.
