Kuira, Hola, Hello,

Hollister teachers, Samuel Ramos and Joe Navarro, and others take corn and beans to the indigenous Tarahumara of Chihuahua, Mexico. Since 1994 Apoyo Tarahumara, a grass-roots project, has delivered more than 100 tons. Suffering from a drought since 1992 the Tarahumara, who are subsistance farmers rely on rain for watering their crops. Due to deforestation and diversion of the little bit of water that exists, the Tarahumara has been struggling to survive.
The Tarahumara, who speak their indigenous language--Raramuri--suffer from discrimination, neglect, forced Mexicanization, and from the oppression of drug traffic.
Apoyo Tarahumara is a small group of volunteers, who donate their time and pay their own expenses to help the Tarahumara. Twice a year we deliver 12 tons of food to the Tarahumara, and will now give at least one ton to a local tarahumara school, which run by a women's cooperative.
Please donate money or help raise money for our group. We need to raise around $10,000 to $15,000 per year. We deliver the food directly into people's hands. We do not have a staff or an expense budget beyond the cost of buying an delivering food. You may also, if you want to, donate to cover the cost of travel expenses.
Our effort is humble, but we are making a significant difference. We do not expect any thanks. In the Raramuri tradition of "korima," where you give to someone when you have the ability to share, we help the Tarahumara. In return we receive cultural and spiritual nourishment.
Please support our efforts. Checks can be made to: Apoyo Tarahumara/I.F. (Integrities Foundation).

Send donations to:
