As you are active in various ways to help overhaul NCLB, and you may not be
on any of FairTest's lists, I am attaching some materials relevant to the
overhaul, and including also the links to where these things are on the web:

In particular, if you are working on legislative proposals, please review the
detailed the Forum on Educational Accountability (FEA) legislative proposal.
It redefines/reframes accountability, removes the 2014 'all proficient' goal,
completely redefines 'adequate progress,' reduces testing and the stakes
attached to it, proposes a major program to bolster local assessments, makes
professional development under local control a key part of NCLB, strengthens
parent involvement and support for family literacy, and redefines how
  accountability processes work.

We hope very much you will essentially adopt and use the FEA legislative
  proposal in your work.

  - Forum on Educational Accountability full legislative proposal and
  summary at http://www.fairtest.org/FEA_Home.html .

  - 'Redefining Accountability,' a report from FEA at
  http://www.fairtest.org/FEA_Home.html

  - Joint Organizational Statement on NCLB, now signed by 116 education, civil
rights, religious, disability and civic organizations representing, after
deducting for overlap, more than 50 million people. The FEA materials are
  based on the Joint Statement.

Thanks a lot, and please feel free to contact me for further information or
to discuss use of these materials.
