CPEPR ANNUAL CONFERENCE:
FROM CRISIS TO TRANSFORMATION

BERKELEY, CA, APRIL 5, 2007: The Center for Popular Education and
Participatory Research (CPEPR), will be holding its annual conference on
April 27 & 28, 2007. The Friday evening and Saturday daytime event, From Crisis To Transformation,
will be held in several locations within the Mission District of San
Francisco. The event will bring together popular educators, community
members, and academics to discuss such issues as immigration, youth &
violence, environmental justice, racial conflict, and other issues of
regional, national, and global importance. A major goal for the Conference
is for participants to share their work, reflect deeply, plan for further
action and forge connections between others across and within fields.

Friday evening's schedule includes a screening of the film Granito de
Arena (Grain of Sand) to be followed by a panel/discussion around the
theme of Education, Organizing and Social Transformation. Throughout the
day on Saturday, workshops will be offered and a second panel/discussion
on issues surrounding war and conscientious objection will be held after
the evening screening of the film Soldiers of Conscience.
