To West Contra Costa and other interested education activists-- On Tuesday, Aug. 28, Kathy Emery will give a talk at the El Cerrito Democratic Club on No Child Left Behind, Destroying or Transforming our Schools? at the El Cerrito United Methodist Church 6830 Stockton St., El Cerrito Pizza at 6:45, Meeting at 7:30 pm Dr. Emery is co-founder of the San Francisco Freedom School (http://educationanddemocracy.org), and has taught high school history for 16 years. She received her PhD in educational policy from UC Davis. Along with Susan Ohanian, she co-authored the book "Why Is Corporate America Bashing Our Public Schools?". Dr. Emery wrote the teaching materials for the teaching edition of Howard Zinn's "A People's History of the United States."
