Dear Friends:
I'm newly back from the east coast, and just found out that George
Miller is coming to Vallejo this Thursday to speak and answer
questions about NCLB. See the forwarded message below. I am
planning to go and will probably be accompanied by Sandy Dorward
and Judy Voets. Reading the info that she forwarded me, it seems
that we were supposed to contact Vallejo Unified by last Friday to
let them know we are coming. I'll call tomorrow (Tuesday), and
hopefully it won't be a problem. The timing couldn't be worse for
active teachers! CTA is most concerned with the "pay
for performance" aspect of the bill, but it seems to me a good
opportunity also to bring up authentic assessment. The question
period is very short. Is there anyone who wants to help me craft
something to ask?
best wishes
Amy
