YOU ARE INVITED TO A COMMUNITY CONVERSATION ABOUT PUBLIC EDUCATION REFORM

Mills College Presents:

Education and the Achievement Gap:
A Community Conversation

Wednesday, February 20, 2008
6:30 ? 8:00 pm
Lisser Hall
Mills College

Why are so many students falling behind? Is the educational system failing our children?

Please join us for this on-stage conversation with a live audience. The first half of the forum will feature a panel discussion with those in the trenches about what is working in public education reform and what is not. The second half will call on the audience, on young people and those who work with them, live with them and care about them to put forward their ideas about how to address the ills of public education in urban America. This conversation will be hosted by Rose Aguilar and taped for broadcast on public radio KQED (88.5 FM) and KALW (91.7 FM) in March, which will allow us to reach hundreds of thousands of listeners and expand the community conversation even further.

On-stage guests Include:

Mark Sanchez, President, San Francisco Board of Education
Olis Simmons, Executive Director, Youth UpRising
Russlynn Ali, Founding Director, The Education Trust?West

Join us! We need your perspective to help us round out the conversation!
