A new AP survey on education has just been released. It is at
http://surveys.ap.orgArial - is first one on the list. First part includes
more general question, second part focuses on education.

By a more than two to one majority, people think that classrom work and home
work is the best way to measure student achievement (70%), compared to "by
means of test scores" (28%). A slight majority of respondents think that
standardized tests measure their quality of schools in their community very
well (7%) or somewhat well (47%). That is, in keeping with many previous
studies, the public finds some utility in standardized test scores, but
recognizes that school-based information is far more important. The question
is whether the federal and state governments will finally recognize and act
on this correct public perception.
