The more I've thought about this, the more upset I have become. I think it would be a mistake to change your curriculum because of a parent if you feel the curriculum is solid. The parent may very well have an axe to grind because no one is buying HIS books. I strongly suggest lit circles or offering the student an alternative reading while you carry on with the regular curriculum for your other students. marji
