Sixth grade teachers -- I could use your expertise. A colleague is
working on a sixth grade writing test, and she's looking for a great
story to use as a lead in to the writing. I've never taught sixth
grade, so my ideas weren't very useful. I suggested Gary Soto's "The
Jacket" -- and "Eleven" by Cisneros . . . also The Scholarship Jacket.
They use Prentice Hall, so the story can't be from that anthology.

What are some short stories you really love at this level?

Thanks for your help.

Disregard what I said about our address changing, Eric. This one will
work, we've JUST been told, "for the time being." Thank you, and I
apologize for the inconvenience.
