I saw it yesterday. I enjoyed it. It was hard for me to keep in mind the kids
were only 14 and 15 (as they kept saying in the movie)...they sure looked older
to be playing the young ones. If they had said they were 17 and 18 and repeating
some grades, then I could have accepted it. Also the teacher was a little too
old to be so naive at first. She reminded me of our TFA teachers who come yearly
to our system except our TFAs do look young, much younger...just like the kids. (And that creates a problem for some.) Swank looked much older. But like Swank,
the TFA people do get involved like Swank and have good results for the most
part. I've seen some slow down after a few extra years here, too. I can't
believe there are still department heads around like the old lady in the movie. It was nice to see her get hers! The teacher territory issue is still an issue
around here....the honors' classes and others, etc. It was produced by Swank and
Danny de Vito, which, in a way, might mean something. It was just another
"feel-good" teacher movie. What happened to "Boston Public"?
