Freedom Writers

Whenever Hollywood takes it upon itself to glorify a teacher and his/her
successful efforts, I guess we teachers should give a salute to the
recognition.  In real life, her success was rewarded by her moving out of the
high school setting and into the college or university setting.  I've seen good
teachers move out of the classroom into the central office where they do very
little.  Perhaps a movie about a teacher who has taught for 30 or more years and
had success should be the next subject of a Hollywood movie.  One nice thing
about the book "Freedom Writers" is that the proceeds go to an organization
dealing with Tolerance and also to help pay the college tuition and fees, etc.,
of the Freedom Writers.  A remarkable job...I wonder if the school in
question adopted her lessons, etc., as models for future teachers.
