Has anyone had success with fishbowls in 7th grade? I did them several years ago with 8th graders and had limited success but they have a lot more maturity than 7th graders -- especially these millenials. Debbie

from Slad and Conol. The strategy is called fishbowls and entry tickets. Each
student creates a comment or a question. Divide the class so that a small group 5
or 6 kids sit in a small circle to discuss what they are working on. The rest of
the class sits around them and if they are interesting in joining the discussion
they have to tap a person and change places. Otherwise, outside students listen
and take down notes so they are ready for the next discussion when they are
inside the circles. There is a wonderful article in the Middel School Journal
Spet. Issue. Try it my kids love it. It took, however, one full trial day before
they got the hang of it.
