True, the study wasn't conducted over a long term period of time but why would it show an increase in reading and math skills? Just because a student has access to a laptop all the time does not mean they are going to read novels and practice algebra on it. Lots of questions as to what was accessible on the laptop (wireless internet, MSN, e-mail-did kids get to download games on it thus play games instead of do reading and math activities????) It is nice to have the laptops so kids can compose and write and writing skills will probably increase. I just don't know what the study wanted to increase in reading in math and what was made available to students to practice those skills.
