I'm glad this issue has come up...My district just received our state scores
back, and although most of our students are scoring proficient, our
administrators are urging us to boost our advanced proficient numbers. There seems
to be particular emphasis given to improving our writing scores. I am so sick
of these tests and am concluding that what and how I teach is apparently not
enough, so I appreciate all the resource and tips folks are willing to
share. I will be checking out both recommendations.
Thanks,
Cathy

Connect with your state writing projects! You may go to
http://www.writingproject.org or directly to the map of sites.
http://www.writingproject.org/About/map.csp Writing projects do a lot of
good/great stuff to include introducing teachers to Nancie Atwell, Ralph
Fletcher and many others. The National Writing Project is well grounded and
NOT a canned program. Please check it out and talk to others (many are
writing project teacher-consultants on this list).
