Minda, it's been a long time since I've read E.R., so please forgive me if
I'm not remembering the correct story when I make the following
suggestions. I'm wondering if articles about Cesar Chavez and his
struggles would provide some of the historical context you seek? Maybe
there's a Cisneros essay or two? The poem "Sonrisas" might work as well,
but I can't recall the poet. (Maybe Pat Mora?)
