One thing my colleagues and i noticed as we implemented reading/writing workshop--lo, these many years ago--was that if one didn't do some short story study (some--not a year's worth) and essay reading/discussion, the students all tried to write novels. heck, we were so successful in reading workshop that they were readingup a storm. but without some ss and essay models to examine, they didn't know what else to write. they didn't KNOW they were writing novels, but that's what they were doing. marji ________________________________________ PeoplePC Online A better way to Internet http://www.peoplepc.com
