I am not sure if this is what you're/he's looking for as it's not specifically YA but there's a Max Allan Collins novel actually set on the Titanic--I enjoyed it a lot, and several of my students have read it and liked it too. I think it's called The Titanic Murders. It's about real-life author Jacques Futrelle, who died on Titanic. Very interesting.

Hi everyone,
I've been lurking but not talking much--it seems there is just no time any more! If anyone has time to answer before leaving for the convention, I have a request from a reading teacher in my building. His team does an extensive unit on the Titanic, and he is looking for a 7th-grade novel set in the U.S. or Europe sometime around 1850-1915. He's a British literature fanatic, so he has all the great British authors in mind already, but he's reaching out for an adolescent novel. Any ideas? Thanks.
Karen
